In 1127 geboren te Burgos. Reeds in zijn jeugd gebeurden er allerlei wonderen. Werd kluizenaar bij het St-Augustinusklooster in Burgos. Nadat koning Alfonso IX Cuença op de Moren had heroverd, benoemde hij hem tot tweede bisschop van de stad. Was vrijgevig jegens de armen, en verrichtte daar zelfs veel handwerk voor; alles wat hij daarmee verdiende droeg hij af aan de armen.
