Hij was afkomstig uit de stad Bolzano in Zuid-Tirol. Hij werkte als handwerksman in de pplaats Treviso. Op zijn oude dag leefde hij van aalmoezen. Reeds bij zijn leven werd hij door de mensen in zijn omgeving als een heilige beschouwd.
