Ambrosius van Ferentino

Het verhaal van zijn marteldood is bekend uit één handschrift, dat pas uit de 14e eeuw stamt.
Volgens dit document was Ambrosius honderdman in het Romeinse leger. Toen hij zich uitgaf als christen, werd hij gearresteerd en aan verschillende folteringen onderworpen. Zo werd hij o.a. in een gloeiende vuuroven gegooid, maar daar kwam hij ongedeerd weer uit. Uiteindelijk werd hij verdronken in een diepe put.
Hij wordt afgebeeld als soldaat te paard.
