Op de terugweg van een pelgrimstocht naar Rome ging hij langs zijn landgenoot Fiacre van Brie († ca 670; feest 30 augustus), die op dat moment woonde te Meaux, ten oosten van Parijs. Hij bleef er, vestigde zich in Aubigny bij Arras (Atrecht) en verkondigde in de omliggende gebieden het evangelie in dienst van bisschop Autbertus van Cambrai-Arras († 669; feest 13 december).
Hij ligt begraven in 'zijn' kerk te Aubigny.
